HUG Media Concept is thrilled to unveil the cast of its upcoming queer royalty film project ‘Ima’mi’.
This project marks a pioneering effort in line with HUG Media Concept’s mission to authentically portray underrepresented groups and individuals on the African big screen through film.
‘Ima’mi’ is set in the Efik Kingdom, portraying the love story between a crown prince and a palace guard, boasting a stellar cast including Nollywood’s finest actors. Veteran actor Maryann Apollo takes on the role of ObongAnwan (the Queen), while budding actor Daerego Ekine shines as Prince Henshaw (the Crown Prince). Elijah Daniels brings depth to the character of Kokoeteh (the Guard), and Gabriel McWilliams Ekpekhiro commands the screen as the Etubom Ekpeyong. Get ready for a cinematic experience filled with love, laughter, and royal intrigue.



The CEO of HUG Media Concept is thrilled to announce this project after their triumphant debut feature film “Happy Ending,” which garnered accolades such as Best Screenplay at Accord Scriptfest 2022 and Best International Film at Cinephile Sweden 2023, among others.
“Ima’mi’ is set to go into principal photography in May 2024 in Cities in the South-South and South East, Nigeria.
With “Ima’mi,” the team aims to share a compelling Nigerian queer royal love story with a global audience.
