Dear Friends, Supporters, and Change-Makers,
As we close the chapter in 2024, we are filled with gratitude and determination. This year has been a journey of turning wounds into wisdom, challenges into victories, and silence into stories.
For HUG Media Concept, 2024 was a testament to the power of resilience and the transformative potential of storytelling. From bringing Nigeria’s first queer royalty film to life to sparking conversations that matter, our mission has never been clearer: to tell the untold Stories, Be the voice of the silenced, and inspire change through cinema.

Here’s a look at what we achieved together in 2024:

2024 Creative Highlights from HUG Media Concept
📽️ ‘Ima’mi’ – A Story Against All Odds:
Despite shutdowns, financial constraints, and threats, we completed principal photography for Ima’mi. This feature film—a deeply personal and groundbreaking exploration of queer royalty in the Efik Empire—is not just a movie; it’s a movement. Ima’mi is now in post-production, and we can’t wait to share it with the world in 2025.
✍️ Three Social Impact Screenplays Developed:
This year, we wrote three transformative scripts addressing critical issues:
> Conversion Therapy
>Drug Abuse Among Youth
>Trans Reaffirming Surgery
These stories underscore our belief in cinema as a powerful tool for change.
🌍 Expanded Advocacy Efforts
> Through workshops with security personnel, we opened essential dialogues on inclusion and representation, paving the way for a safer, more understanding society.

> 🤝 A Groundbreaking Partnership
Our collaboration with NALA Underwears, Faith Idodia and Gabriel McWilliams Ekpekhiro has set a new standard for authentic representation in our projects. Together, we’re breaking barriers and rewriting narratives.
> 🎭 Building a Fearless Cast
The courageous actors who have brought our scripts to life embody the spirit of resistance and transformation. Their bravery inspires us every day.

Defining Moments of 2024
Here are three pivotal moments that shaped our mission this year:
1. HUG Media Concept was featured in Open Country Mag, one of Africa’s top cultural platforms, known for its coverage of African literature, Nollywood, and influential figures. This feature underscores our commitment to advocating for sexual minorities through film, aligning with the magazine’s mission to highlight groundbreaking African creators.

2. “Rewriting Narratives”
HUG Media, in collaboration with the University of Birmingham and the Centre for Democracy and Development NGO, hosted a workshop on sexual violence against boys and Men in Nigeria at Transcorp Hilton, Abuja. The event, held in commemoration of their forthcoming documentary, emphasized the power of storytelling as a form of resistance and advocacy, sparking conversations on safeguarding vulnerable groups and fostering societal change.

3. HUG Media Concept also partnered with The VIOfficial, an entertainment brand magazine based in Brazil. The collaboration was marked by the presence of Kelvin Okoroji, our Creative Executive Head, who has just joined us, and Nnamdi Daniel, our producing partner, to discuss the potential for cross-cultural storytelling and mutual growth in the entertainment industry. This partnership aims to create global platforms for marginalized voices, leveraging both brands’ influence to advocate for social change and amplify underrepresented stories.
4. Our film Happy Ending. The powerful story, which addresses queer male rape within the entertainment industry, has been recognized as a thesis topic at the University of Belgium. This achievement underscores the film’s impact and its contribution to academic discourse on critical social issues.

Looking Ahead to 2025
2025 is not just another chapter; it’s a turning point. This is the year Ima’mi reaches audiences, and with it, we aim to:
1) Prove that our stories deserve to be told.
2) Show that our love deserves to be seen.
3) Demonstrate that Nigerian cinema is ready for real change.

But Ima’mi is just the beginning. We are committed to creating more films, hosting more workshops, and driving deeper conversations that challenge tradition and ignite progress.

> Thank you for being part of this journey. Here’s to rewriting history in 2025 and beyond.
