As 2025 comes to a close, we want to take a moment to say Thank you.
This year tested HUG Media Concept in ways we had never experienced before: financially, emotionally, and structurally. Yet, through resilience, collaboration, and the support of people like you, we stood our ground and continued to tell stories that matter.

In early 2024, despite tightening Production restrictions and a rapidly rising cost of production, we went into principal photography on Ima’mi, shooting across six states in Nigeria. Inflation hit hard, tripling our original budget, but we chose perseverance over silence.

Ima’mi had its first private screening at the 5 Battalion Military Barracks, Elele, Rivers State—the same battalion that provided security support for our nationwide shoot. The screening opened up critical conversations with policy makers, cultural stakeholders, Military Personnels and community leaders.
The film later had its first international private screening at the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art, Washington DC, during WorldPride DC 2025, and it is currently on its festival run, amplifying African queer narratives on global platforms.

Truthfully, 2025 has been one of the most difficult years in our company’s history. We navigated debt from Ima’mi, operational challenges, and the realities of opening a Port Harcourt branch. Still, we made meaningful progress through intentional collaborations.
This year, we:
- Collaborated with Fringe! Queer Film & Arts Festival (UK) and Hideout Podcast (Kenya) under the British Council to train underrepresented screenwriters.
- Held development talks with IRIS Prize (UK) to support and educate underrepresented producers and directors.
- Partnered with Intersex Persons Society Ghana and Drama Queens Ghana on a short film addressing intersex realities in Africa, slated for 2026.
- Strengthened our communications by engaging a Social Media Manager/Publicist and Strategist.
- We collaborated with Dance on the Beach (Nigeria)- an initiative of 3rd Yearts Arts, and Hideout Podcast (Kenya) on the Queer Creative Edition of Dance on the Beach
A Special Congratulations
This message is also a celebration of you, everyone who stood by HUG Media Concept when support required courage. Your belief sustained us through uncertainty, restrictions, and financial strain. Standing with us this year was an act of trust, and we do not take it lightly.
Looking Ahead to 2026
As we move forward, our focus remains clear:
- The return of our stage play The Families in Q1 2026, in partnership with Arts in the Garden City and Alliance Française, Port Harcourt.
- Bringing our earlier films to our YouTube channel, alongside the launch of a new YouTube series.
- Continued festival, institutional, grassroot and NGO screenings of Ima’mi to deepen its social impact.
Thank you for believing in advocacy-driven storytelling, African culture, and underrepresented voices. We look ahead with renewed strength and unwavering purpose.
SEE YOU IN 2026!!!
Breaking the Bounds.
