HUG Media Concept is an advocacy-led film production company committed to amplifying the voices of underrepresented groups through cinema. The company focuses on championing stories that explore African traditions, Minorities narratives, and social justice themes.

Team and Growth: In 2019, notable Nigerian activists Adimuko Becca, Nlemchi Solomon and Uche Ebenezer joined the team, bringing diverse expertise to the company’s mission. By 2024, Film journalist Kelvin Okoroji and Filmmaker Nnamdi Daniels join the team.

Milestones and Recognition: HUG Media Concept gained international attention with its short film Broken Rainbow in 2021, which achieved multiple official selections and accolades at global film festivals. Key awards include: Best International Short Film at the Queer International Film Festival Africa (2021). Best Actor – Foreign Category at Reelasia Film Festival, Philippines (2021).

Their debut feature-length film, Happy Ending 2022, was celebrated globally, including screenings at prestigious festivals. The film’s profound impact was further cemented when it became the subject of a Master’s Thesis in the University of Gent, Belguim, showcasing its critical and academic significance. This groundbreaking work also earned Godwin Harrison an invitation to the British Film Institute Flare Festival Industry Event in 2023, where he represented Nigeria as one of four queer filmmakers.

Advocacy and Collaboration: The company has partnered with various human rights NGOs within and outside Africa.

Industry Impact: In 2021, Godwin Harrison was recognized as a narrative changer and featured as a special guest on the BETtv Africa Virtual Talk Show.
